Kaitlyn Jones is a Diné artist from New Mexico, graduating in 2019 from the Native American Community Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Currently, Jones attends the Institute of American Indian Arts, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking.  With her experience in 2-D mediums, she is able to investigate processes in her work through acrylics, watercolors, and printmaking techniques, such as monotype and linocut. Her work has been displayed at the John A. Day Gallery in South Dakota, as well as the Nativo Lodge in Albuquerque. Alongside the exhibition, she gained experience as a teacher’s assistant

My artwork is culturally based in my heritage as a Diné matriarch. The artworks stem from the thoughts we create with an understanding of beauty and harmony within ourselves and our environment. We as Diné are taught throughout our lives how to live in a ‘good way,’ and through my art, I focus on this idea while expanding upon attributes of a traditional lifestyle. I use printmaking and painting to explore concepts of Diné practices and storytelling. Through each medium, I expand upon the stories of my childhood, while combining them with a contemporary perspective.
